Job Description
As a Mobile Android Engineer, you will design, develop, and implement new capabilities for the Skyward
Mobile Platform. You will participate in a collaborative Agile team environment and build features that not only
meet customer requirements, but help Skyward encourage best practice in an incredibly innovative industry.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Design and build applications for the Android platform
- Partner closely with our Design and Product team to provide input into the architecture of the application
- workflows.
- Create secure and high-quality software with new features/functionalities for Android devices.
- Work with various data sources and APIs
- Participate with Product Management in the definition, prioritization and estimating of requirements
- Practice Test Driven Development techniques, implement unit test and work to increase test coverage
- across the application
- Collaborate in the design of a solid mobile application Architecture that enables the application(s) to scale,
- grow, and be flexible and that aligns with overall Skyward Platform Architecture
- Establish and monitor best practices for the mobile application suite, working across the team and
- contracted resources
- Lead by example and mentorship as part of a team of engineers responsible for the Skyward Software
- Platform including Web, Mobile, and Services.
- Participate in product specifications through rapid iterative prototyping and UI simulations in code with live
- data.
- 3-5+ years of Software Engineering experience with a solid foundation in delivering Android applications
- 1+ year experience with Agile development practices (Scrum, XP, etc)
- Experience with continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD), including testing and version control
- Experience developing and implementing automated unit tests on the Android platform
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative team
- Experience with the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for mobile applications
- Experience with Object-oriented design principles
- Experience with Jira, Bitbucket, Github
- Experience using Restful APIs to integrate mobile applications to server side systems (SaaS)
- Demonstrated aptitude and desire to learn new skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
- Ability to embrace change and work in an iterative development environment
- Ability to develop a deep understanding of the commercial UAS marketplace and customers' needs.
Preferred
- Experience working in a startup environment
- Experience with Kotlin a plus
- PostGIS or Geospatial experience
- Experience flying drones for business or pleasure
