Job Description

Responsibilities:



    • Designs, develops, documents and maintains multiple databases.
    • Provides technical support for the database environment and supports internal teams in the use of databases.
    • Provides performance tuning.
    • Under limited direction of senior database administration staff and/or management, plans, designs, installs and configures database systems and software
    • Develops applications for data migration and maintenance.
    • Proactively monitors database system operations and activity
    • Troubleshoots and resolves system performance issues in accordance with established standards and procedures.
    • Implements of security standards and best practices
    • Performs back-ups and restores and assists with disaster recovery planning and implementation.
    • Supports miscellaneous applications with client/server middleware.
    • Keeps up on industry trends and current technological standards, tools and operational considerations.
    • Makes suggestions for process, implementation, and performance improvements.



Requirements:



    • A minimum of five years relevant experience in database administration, information systems, or equivalent technical environment. Previous experience supporting highly transnational, mission critical systems is preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of data structures and database management systems including familiarity with MS SQL as well as proficiency with database backup and recovery.
    • Strong knowledge of a broad spectrum of infrastructure technologies and secure computing environments: network, hardware and operating systems, servers and storage.
    • Strong understanding of Service Oriented Architecture and relational application design and development.



Must have experience with:



    • One or more of the following large relational database systems: SQL Server




    • Database monitoring, tuning and optimization tools.
    • Database reporting, analytic and query tools and interfaces.
    • Database back-up technologies and tools.
    • Excellent analytic skills.
    • Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and demeanor.
    • Proven self-started.
    • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications, such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, both independently and collaboratively.
